By Henry F. Zacchini’92
Onion River Press, 2022

Book cover for Even Dictators Need Dogs: Stories and Poems by Henry F. Zacchini'92 Henry Zacchini’s new collection of short stories and poems examines the human condition, exploring loss, love, and alienation. The book alternates between small collections of poems and short stories, two of which are loosely inspired by the author’s time spent in London.

The third, “A Cleansing,” grew from Zacchini’s fascination with U.S. foreign policy in Latin America and its disastrous impact on those who live there. This riveting story about an elderly, imprisoned Argentinian dictator leads to a memorable ending.

A writer and teacher, Zacchini lives with his family in Vermont.
